At Sonic the Hedgehog’s 25th Anniversary celebration event, Sega announced that there will release two new Sonic games in 2017.

The first game, titled Sonic Project 2017, is essentially a sequel to Sonic Generations. The game looks to combine gameplay from newer Sonic games, with gameplay from the older (2D) Sonic games. You can watch a trailer below:

The second Sonic the Hedgehog game that was announced looks a little bit more interesting. Entitled Sonic Mania, the game is a new pixel art Sonic the Hedgehog game starring Sonic, Tails and Knuckles. Developed by fan-developers (that is to say developers who have made Sonic fan-games), it looks as though the game is in very experienced hands. You can check out a trailer for the game below:

Both games will be coming to all current-generation platforms (and PC!) in 2017.
