Song of the Week is a weekly feature where we show off the best of video game music. From the sweeping orchestra music of Nobuo Uematsu to the more somber tunes of Yoko Shimomura, prepare to have your ears delighted every week.
It was a Bank Holiday weekend for us at XO.TV, which meant I spent most of Monday relaxing and playing Overwatch (the two don’t necessarily go hand-in-hand).
Having played it throughout most of the previous week for our impending review, I couldn’t help but pick a song from the game.
The song we’ve chosen this week is the Hollywood Theme from Overwatch. This music plays at the beginning of the Hollywood map and perfectly captures the inspirational essence of the map’s style and design.
Overwatch‘s excellent soundtrack was composed by Neal Acree, a long-time Blizzard composer who has also done music for various films and TV shows.
Given how all of the maps from Overwatch are based around a specific location (Greece, England etc), most of the music from Overwatch has been carefully created to match each map’s location and culture. Indeed, the music is one of Overwatch’s strong points.
Have a listen as you ease yourself into the start of a new week!
