Song of the Week is a weekly feature where we show off the best of video game music. From the sweeping orchestra music of Nobuo Uematsu to the more somber tunes of Yoko Shimomura, prepare to have your ears delighted every week.
I finally picked up Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD this weekend. Ah, the memories… they all come flooding back.
Whilst Final Fantasy X wasn’t one of my favorite Final Fantasy games when I originally picked it up, and it’s one of the only games in the series I haven’t completed (I’m working on it), it still has a special place in my heart.
It’s odd, because I feel like the more I grow up… the more I appreciate games which didn’t resonate with me the first time around (I’m looking at you Final Fantasy XII).
Today’s music is called “Spiran Scenery“. The music is from the HD version of Final Fantasy X, which means it has been re-arranged with some slight changes to the original song. These changes, thankfully, are wonderful and make the piece a joy to listen to.
Originally composed by series-legend Nobuo Uematsu and arranged by Masashi Hamauzu, Hamauzu returns to the piece once again to put a new spin on it.
I love the upbeat nature of this music, with the hint of Yuna’s theme which runs throughout the entire piece, it’s easily one of my favorite pieces from the HD version of the game.
Have a listen, I know you’ll enjoy it!
